HOW TO CURE MORTON'S NEUROMA (ON BOTH FEET)

DEAR GRANDMA:

I HAVE MORTON'S NEUROMA'S ON BOTH FEET. THEY ARE SUPPOSEDLY CAUSED BY WEARING SHOES THAT ARE TOO SMALL, OR IT CAN BE HEREDITY.

NO ONE ELSE HAS HAD IT IN OUR FAMILY. I DON'T WEAR SHOES THAT ARE TOO SMALL.

MORT. NEUROMAS ARE A SMALL GROWTH ON THE NERVES THAT ARE BETWEEN THE METATARSAL BONES. IT FEELS LIKE YOU ARE WALKING ON A MARBLE IN YOUR SHOE, AND IT FEELS LIKE A BAD BRUISE. (ON THE BALL OF THE FOOT)

DO YOU KNOW HOW TO GET RID OF THEM? WOULD YOU ADVISE TAKING SOMETHING HEALING FOR THE NERVES? EVIDENTLY THE NERVES ARE BEING AGGRAVATED.

I AM 63 YRS. YOUNG AND AM VERY ACTIVE. I AM VERY HEALTH CONSCIOUS, I LIKE TO EXERCISE AND DO A LOT OF WALKING, SHOPPING, GARDENING AND HANGING OUT WITH MY DAUGHTER AND GRANDCHILDREN.

I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY IDEAS YOU HAVE THAT WOULD HELP ME GET AROUND WITHOUT SO MUCH PAIN! I USE ORTHOTICS IN MY "NEW BALANCE" SHOES. IF I DIDN'T HAVE THEM I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO GET AROUND AT ALL!!!

THANKS SOOOOO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!

TERRY

Morton's Neuroma
by: Anonymous

Hi, I have a Morton's Neuroma in my right foot. I recently had hammertoe surgery on both feet. The foot with the Morton's Neuroma is not doing so well. I am 9 weeks post op and that MN is bothering me now more than it ever did. I see some suggestions on taking chelated magnesium and I am going to consider it; however, I wanted to know if anyone has even been successful with acupuncture for MN. Please let me know, as I am feeling desperate and uncomfortable. Thank you.

Try an over the counter suppliment... NEW
by: Jason

I have had issues with my neuromas for a year now and have had injections to help calm the pain the first time (twice at $1200 a pop)...

Recently the pain started coming back again and I scoured the Internet to see if I could avoid a 3rd shot and bill...I came across 2 people who said chelated magnesium helped them so I tried it...on the 3rd day my pain didn't come back until 3pm...then on the 4th it didn'the come back at all!!!...it has been 2 weeks now and I haven't had the golf ball return under my foot in that time...

I am taking chelated calcium, magnesium, and zinc polls...2 pills once daily (make sure to take less than 350 mgs so you don't get magnesium poisioning) and do a hot foot bath in Epson salt daily and it seems to have gotten rid of the neuroma...or at least the pain!!!...

Give it a try...it may work for you too...if not...you're only out about $12...

Mortons NEW
by: Richard

I have mortons and this may sound like bull @#$/^,
I used acupuncture and cbd (which is from Marijuana),cbd does not get you high, this part of the plant that has the pain control and very strong anti-inflammatory properties. It also helps calm the nerve in the foot.

No hot water
by: Anonymous

Actually soaking them in hot water is not helpful as it will make the nerves more aggrivated. But cold water with ice in it will help. A neuroma is nerves in your foot that are swollen so ice water soak will be the best to help control the swelling. Otherwise you may need to consult a podiatrist.

Morton's Neuroma & Remedies
by: Grandma

Hello Terry,

I'm not going to pretend I know much about Morton's Neuroma. In fact I never heard of it until you wrote me today. I had to google Morton's Neuroma which lead me to the Mayo Clinic just to find out what it is and what is being done medically for it, which I found out, nothing!
From what I read they know about as much as I do about it, that's sad. It has to be scary to be in so much pain and love life the way you do.

I'm guessing that a disorder like this must start when you were growing up and while your feet were forming, or maybe when you were younger and wearing those pointed shoes or high heels. Somehow you really injured the nerves in your feet.

I thought back to when I was a teenager and my best friends mother had a lot of foot problems, the symptoms were pretty much like you described today. She didn't have a diagnoses, she really couldn't afford to go to a foot doctor. She was a waitress and worked on her feet a lot. But I remember her coming home from work and first soaking her feet in hot Epson Salt water for about 20 minutes, then drying them off and walking barefoot around the house, then after they'd cool down she'd soak them in ice cold water for another 20 minutes. This really seemed to help the pain and allowed her to sleep. The next day she was back on her feet working again.

I recently had knee problems and went to physical therapy, they did the same thing to me 3 times a week. Hot moist compresses for 15 minutes, exercise, then ice wraps around my knees for 15 minutes. It felt like torture but it really did help. Maybe this will help you Terry. I know I'd give it a try. I really think this will help with the pain you're experiencing. I'd also try walking barefoot as much as possible around the house. I realize walking barefoot will hurt at first but I think just putting your feet in a natural alignment for awhile each day may help release the nerve pressure.

I'd also check around your area for someone who does reflexology. It's amazing what these people can do and what they can find just by working on your feet.
