Fructose Sugar for Kombucha Tea

I was wondering if you had to use cane sugar to make the kombucha, or do you think there would be a problem if you used fructose sugar?

I would stick with the orginal recipe. The sugar is a very important ingredient since that is what causes the fermentation. Messing around with any other kind of sugar is liable to cause the tea's potency to change.
