Fever Remedy

Hello,
My question is about fever. Can I use any warming ointment like for example Amish salve on the whole body when having fever? I always do that with my kids and somebody told me yesterday it is wrong.

Hello Grandma,
Thank you for your answer to my question.
The Amish ointment I got from Amazon website.Thus, I do not know any Amish family to ask the question. However, what I meant was about any warming "vicks vaporub ointment" available in the most stores. I was just concerned if you could put it on a child with a bad cough along a high fever...

Hello Kaya,

I'm sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner I've been dealing with a lot of spam and causing me computer problems.

I really have no idea what is in this Amish ointment you're talking about. Is there an Amish family near you that you can ask?

I've never been one to worry about a fever unless it got really high. A fever is just the body's way of burning off an infection. Anytime I'd get concerned I'd chop some fresh garlic and spread it on butter bread to feed to my kids. Of course make sure they were drinking plenty of fluid. I'd also take a hot water bottle and fill with cold tap water and let them hug it. Mother's always seem to know when the fever is taking its tole and might need a Dr.'s opinion.
