I am a 62 year old white female with insulin dependent diabetes . I have episodes of a lot of gas and diarrhea. I cannot control my bowels. When it starts it just explodes and squirts out. This has been going on since 2006. I can't leave home because when an episode comes on it is instant. I have had a colonoscopy and after i had it done is when this started. Explained to the doctor about it and he had me to take Questram. That didn't help. Discussed it with my family doctor and he gave me Lomotil. Doctor don't seem to understand what i am trying to tell them. I started eating foods with a lot of fiber. That seem to help. My husband went on the internet and found that Benifiber three times a day and calcium 600+D three times a day formed stools. Seemed to help until recently. I don't use dairy products. Butter seems to trigger it. I can't even go to the store i am so afraid. I don't want company to come because i am afraid an episode will come on while they are here. I have made a mess of my carpeting because it hits so fast i can't make it to the bathroom. What can i possibly do?
Thank you
L.S.
