Chest Congestion Remedy

Remember the old krup rag? when i was a kid in Arkansas, Mom used it a lot. But the only thing i can remember being on it was Vicks vapor rub. Can you help me fill in the blanks? I know it sure did work!

Hi,

Boy, there are so many old fashioned remedies for chest congestion. I do remember everybody had their own little remedies that they'd smear on their kids chests and cover with a flannel rag. But I really don't know the right remedy your mom used with Vicks. In my family we used a product called Spine Oil, do you remember that? I preferred that as a kid because it didn't get hot like other things. I do know that took that off the market, I have no idea why.

I've always used my hot toddy recipe and a vaporizer filled with salt water.
